The class oriented internationalist trade unions - a requirement of time, the urgent task of the international workers' and trade union movementThe class oriented internationalist trade unions - a requirement of time, the urgent task of the international workers' and trade union movement

On the 7-th anniversary of the World Federation of Trade Unions

On the main stage of the heroic path of the WFTU

The establishment of a global trade union on a class basis was realized and raised not only in the Soviet Union, but in other countries, when there was World War II. Even then, there were opponents of the idea, who tried in various ways to prevent the progress of these initiatives.

However, February 6, 1945 in London Conference was convened, which was attended by 204 delegates from 42 countries, representing 60 million workers. The establishment of an international trade union organization has caused serious differences. Representatives from Latin America, the USSR, France, Australia, United States (CIO), and a number of other delegations supported the idea of creating a new organization. As for the transmission, then it was then a strong left wing, and she competed with other US trade union center - AFL, which was not just a reaction, but openly anti-communist.

No less rigidly opposed the leaders of the British trade unions, who, wishing to prevent the formation of a new international trade union center, tried to revive at the moment is unsustainable and openly reformist international trade union center in Amsterdam. In the end, it took a compromise decision to establish a committee of 41 members - the number of countries that have been authorized to convene another conference with the main purpose to prepare a draft charter of the World Federation of Trade Unions.

And on September 25 conference in Paris attended by 346 delegates from 56 countries, representing 67 million organized workers. Voting for the creation of the WFTU on October 3, 1945, and from that day conference was called 1 Congresses WFTU, whose work continued to 9 October. Delegates from the American AFL after the vote left the Congress by refusing to participate in the WFTU. From 1945 to 1990. WFTU has grown to more than 400 million members.

Since the beginning of the so-called "cold war" at the initiative of the American trade union AFL-CIO, who at that time came together in the early 1950s was based International Confederation of Free Trade Unions - ICFTU This split line of the international trade union movement has been a major product of the governments of the US, Britain, France, Japan and some other seeking to undermine the influence of communists and left-wing forces.

ICFTU has been a loyal tool of capital and governments of powerful imperialist countries, its constant aim has been and remains the dissemination and popularization of the bourgeois ideology in the working class. From its inception until the mid-1990s, it is present in the financial budget of the CIA. This association, even after the renaming, is a bastion of neo-liberalism and reactionary forces, designed to disorient the modern labor movement.

Since 1990, he began the attack on the WFTU for its complete destruction. In the context of anti-communist governments in the former socialist countries, one of the first decisions they took at the time, it was the expulsion of the WFTU from his offices, layoffs of employees from work, arrests of terror. In all these countries seized finances and other assets of the WFTU.

At the same time, in the period 1990 - 1994, the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions has received from the bourgeois governments full support, especially financial, facilities and other assets. This can be judged by FITUR, which became the largest owner, tool influence the ICFTU (hereinafter ITUC) in Russia.

After the collapse of the Soviet bloc, many trade unions that appeared in the former socialist countries joined the ICFTU. In addition, the WFTU in the mid-1990s, came French and Italian trade union confederations - CGT and CGIL. Subsequently, however, some trade unions as part of the CGT to reconnect with the WFTU.

Meanwhile, the WFTU at that time reached the limits of institutional paralysis, with negative consequences for the world proletariat. This was reflected at the level of the International Labour Organization, which is supported by the ICFTU adopted a number of anti-labor decisions: the removal of the prohibition of child labor, night work for women, private offices for the employment of job-seekers (autosoring), the deterioration of working conditions in the mines, the institutionalization of lawlessness at work according to the contract and others.

The revival of WFTU

In 1994, on the initiative of trade unions Cuba, Syria, Libya, Palestine, Iraq, India, Vietnam and some organizations from Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, it was decided to convene the 13th Congress of the WFTU. This important trade union forum was held in November 1994 in Damascus.

The Congress faced a position opposite to each other. On the one hand, the CGT France, Italian General Confederation of Labour and the other, which at that time were members of the WFTU, proposed to dissolve WFTU and join the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions. On the other hand, trade unions in countries such as Syria, Cuba, India, Vietnam, opposed the dissolution and proposed to revive the WFTU.

As a result, the majority of delegates favored retaining the WFTU. Overweight was achieved thanks to the votes of delegates from the Middle East, Latin America, India, who more than others have seen all the negative consequences for the people of the world have occurred in turmoil. They looked at the WFTU, as a support, as the small and weak a spark that can grow into a pole changing the world trade union movement.

The next important step was the holding of the 15th Congress of the WFTU in Havana in 2005. This event marked the overcoming of a number of crises. It elected a new leadership headed by General Secretary George Mavrikos from the Greek trade union PAME and KKE. In 2006, the headquarters of the WFTU was moved from Prague to Athens. This was an important point, because it is the KKE and PAME steel backbone, core ideological and organizational support WFTU in Europe.

An important step in efforts to restore the WFTU was to hold the 16th World Trade Union Congress in April 2011 in Athens. The success of the congress exceeded all expectations. It became apparent that the WFTU has managed to not only survive, but to go forward and develop. If at the previous congress in Havana five years ago, 503 delegates representing trade unions from 64 countries, this year was attended by 920 representatives from 105 countries on all five continents. By the end of 2014 the WFTU unites 92 million members from 126 countries.

These successes WFTU to build its presence in the international trade union and labor movement, significant and rapid increase in the number of members have raised serious concerns about the bourgeois governments, multinational companies, as well as the reformist unions, that while the number of members lost everywhere.

International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU), which in 2006 was renamed and is now called the ITUC (International Trade Union Confederation), contrary to previous agreements on cooperation, launched a campaign to discredit the WFTU. Various foundations and institutions of recent years, there are special "workshops" with trade union activists in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, where anti-communist propaganda is carried out openly attacked the WFTU.

A prominent trade unionist, director of the Global Institute of Labour Dan Gallin, whose called union gurus, about three years ago published a lengthy programmatic article "The World Federation of Trade Unions - hydroponic Stalinism." The article, the title of which speaks for itself, was replicated on an unprecedented scale.

Since filing Gallina ITUC coined the division of trade unions in "democratic" and "Stalinist". It was again used manipulative receiving false alternatives that in the late '80s the Soviet people were divided into Democrats and Conservatives - read the communists. This method is intended to prevent the growing influence of WFTU in different countries.

In November 2013, an international trade union conference in Kiev, conducted by CLR, some Ukrainian trade unions and individual activists were denied participation in this conference because of their "undemocratic." Offended that attitude to his conference they organized pickets with slogans: "Down with the monopolization the spirit of free trade!!!", "Shame on anti-democratic the organizing committee of the conference!" Scandal had continued in the boardroom. Some members wanted to know on what basis the organizers determine which union democracy, and what is not.

Eric Lee, editor in chief of the site of the international trade union movement LabourStart, has formulated criteria for this selection follows. Democratic Trade Unions, in his opinion, can not be regarded those unions that do not condemn Stalinism, anti-Americanism and anti-Zionism permit. Famous Russian union activist Alexei Etmanov, after hearing all these union guru, and there were plenty of them, began his speech with the words: "I do not understand where I was. It seems that there is some kind of anti-Soviet, anti-communist Sabbath (bunch). But the Communists actively helping other trade unions."

In 2015, at a conference in Moscow dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the CLR, the same Gallin said that since the October Socialist Revolution was defeated, it were in vain the enormous sacrifices that have been made in the name of revolution. This caused fair indignation of some of the conference participants.

What is the fundamental difference between the WFTU and the ITUC?

This question was asked and the WFTU General Secretary George Mavrikos during his visit to Moscow in 2013. Here is what Comrade Mavrikos stressed then:

- Since the founding of the main principles and objectives of the WFTU are internationalism and solidarity, democratic functioning of trade unions, all-round protection of the interests of the working class and the struggle for peace and cooperation between workers and peoples. WFTU strongly opposes the violent imperialist interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states and their peoples.

- ITUC also cooperates closely with the IMF and the World Bank and in the international arena should be in the wake of the aggressive policy of the imperialist forces. So, ITUC officially supported military action countries - members of NATO in Libya and planting in the country so-called democracy, which the deplorable results are obvious. Currently, the organization supports the aggressive actions of NATO, Saudi Arabia and Qatar against the Syrian people. ITUC also expressed its support for French intervention in Mali.

- Our trade union movement feels the full negative impact of the current period of capitalist crisis. Market economy bosses throughout the sweeping offensive on workers' rights, so that many of the social gains have been lost, deteriorating working conditions in the workplace. There is a further "punching" state property privatization, cuts in wages, pensions, limiting the democratic rights of trade unions.

- Therefore, in the priorities of the WFTU at the current stage includes building up the power of the trade unions to counter global capital and the organization of a counter in the struggle against capitalist exploitation of the working people, for the rights of the working people, for its present and future.

- Today, WFTU has a strong position in Latin America, Asia and Africa, but, unfortunately, are insufficient in Europe. In Latin America, Asia and Africa ranks of the trade unions are constantly being strengthened and supplemented each year with new members. After all, the people there are, in practice, convinced of the need for a united struggle against capitalist exploitation, for social emancipation of the working class.

-Important that WFTU presented in four international organizations, it has its permanent representatives to the United Nations (in New York), the ILO (in Geneva), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (Rome) and UNESCO (Paris).

-The fight with the compromisers in the labor movement is conducted by the WFTU and the organization of the ILO. Its democratic character of the WFTU confirmed many times. And then, when the question of the need to support the factory workers go on strike, "Ford" in Russia, which the union at the international level is part of another trade union, and defended when subjected to repression and death of Kazakhstan oilworkers. Kazakhstan union "Zhanartu" also admitted to the WFTU. It is supported by the WFTU at the international level.

Comrade Mavrikos WFTU on the relationship with the Russian trade union and labor movement:

- WFTU trade union believes that the urgent requirement today is to work closely with the working class and the trade unions in Russia. At the same time, unfortunately, it must be noted that in the last period, the WFTU is not well-established cooperative relations with trade unions in your country.

- World Federation of Trade Unions is open for cooperation, we are convinced that the Russian working class in the future and aims to play a leading role in the international trade union movement. Also drawn attention to the fact that speaking on behalf of the Russian workers' Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia is a member of the ITUC, which will stress again, in political terms (while we oppose outside interference in the internal affairs of countries, and even more so - armed ) officially supports the aggressive acts and aspirations of NATO countries and their regional allies, especially now against the people of Syria. The requirement today is working closely with trade unions WFTU Russia.

The workers leave the trade unions "social partnership": they are not interested to be members of trade unions, which are subject to the policies of the capitalists, and acting on their orders.

Examples of how the trade unions are losing millions of his followers, can serve as such unions as General Confederation of Labour (CGT), France, Spain, Working Committee, Italian General Confederation of Labour. The fact that their leadership abandons class-oriented struggle. Not by chance, these unions are members of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).

What is meant by the World Federation of Trade Unions "class unions"

- The class oriented trade union movement was created for migrant workers to at all stages of its activities serve as a short-term and long-term interests of the working class.

-Class oriented movement based on Marxist theory. This movement, which represents the interests of a unified working class. This movement, which seeks every day dialectically combine the form and content of the struggle within the framework of its tactical methods and steps to achieve the strategic objectives: the collapse of capitalism.

-Class oriented movement - a movement that fights every day for the decision of actual problems of the workers (wages, unemployment, social security, etc.) and by means of this struggle solid step towards the complete solution of the basic problems of the working people, to get rid of the capitalist brutality to eliminate the exploitation of man by man.

- World Federation of Trade Unions - a "daughter" of victory over fascism and the "home" for the international working class. His extensive activities at the international, regional and sectoral levels, WFTU aims to unite the workers in the class struggle against the capitalist cruelty and injustice, against imperialism and for the creation of an alliance between the working class and popular strata, poor farmers and self-employed workers. The purpose of this alliance - to improve the quality of life and working conditions.
Therefore, the priority of trade unions is a daily work where there is hired and exploited workers - in the factories, in transnational corporations, in popular areas.

- The class-oriented trade unions - is a mass organization of the working class. They should unite working people, regardless of differences in ideology, religion, regardless of gender, etc. They must unite the workers as a class. They should be open, democratic and have a fighting character.

- Within the trade unions very important role played by Communist workers who are members of the proletarian vanguard and carriers the most positive, the most progressive, the most optimistic values, such as internationalism, solidarity and class unity and socialist perspective.

-We Believe vital to show the working class, especially the youth, the greatest achievements of the Soviet Union, the great role of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the Communist and Workers' Marxist-Leninist parties in all socialist countries, comparing them to care for millions of workers to the capitalist brutality.

-In the same time class-oriented trade union movement must expose the perverse role of the political parties that adhere to neo-fascist, racist and neo-conservative ideology. It must expose hostile role played by the social democratic movement in the last century and continues to this day.

-It depends on militant trade unions, their struggle for class unity and expand our ranks. At the same time, class-oriented trade union movement must expose the perverse role of the political parties that adhere to neo-fascist, racist and neo-conservative ideology. It must expose hostile role played by the social democratic movement in the last century and continues to this day. It depends on militant trade unions, their struggle for class unity and expand our ranks.

A specific example of the class-oriented trade unions is the famous Greek PAME trade union association

In 1999, at the initiative of the KKE forces the trade union movement, recognizing the need for class struggle, formed Panhellenic Militant Front (PAME). PAME is presented in WFTU and unites in its ranks 8 branch federations (such as the Federation of Builders of Greece, the Federation of Textile Industry, the Federation of Printing, the Federation of the pharmaceutical industry, etc.), As well as 13 regional trade unions (Work Centers) and tens of primary trade unions, where class forces have a majority. So the party to strengthen ties with the class. PAME - Panhellenic battle front unites about 300 thousand employees of private and public sector.

The guide PAME prevail Communists and their allies. It should be noted that the election of the governing bodies in the Greek trade unions are held on political platforms.

Emphasis PAME doing on the international solidarity of workers, to expose the false speculative assertions about the "lazy, accustomed to live well," the Greeks, on the destruction in the minds of the workers of other countries such stereotypes formed by the world bourgeoisie to the impossibility of joint action. And it is worth noting that the PAME achieved considerable success in this area.

PAME works closely with the poor peasantry, the petty bourgeoisie, the women's movement and the radical youth (PASI - Panhellenic combat cohesion; PASEVE - Panhellenic Union of anti-monopoly artisans and merchants; OGE - The Federation of Greek Women, the MAC - The front of the struggle of students).

The statute of PAME recorded: the organization is fighting for the abolition of exploitation of man by man. This tendency of the class, the proletariat on the road leading out of organized struggle for freedom, democracy and socialism, was and remains the proletarian trend in the world labor movement.

What is the cause of the crisis of the trade union movement in the world?

Our ideological opponents - the liberals and anti-communists often speculate on the fact that in a number of capitalist countries in the last decade has been a steady downward trend in the share of union members among the workers and other employees hired labor. Arguing that the declining interest of employees to trade unions has the objective nature due to changes in current conditions and nature of work. And they do this conclusion about the general crisis of the trade union movement. But he thinks in this respect George Mavrikos:

- In today's world capitalist crisis and the violent attacks of capital and governments on labor and social rights of the people can assume that we are on the threshold of a new reality in the international trade union and labor movement. There is every reason to believe that in the future coming strengthening military character and a significant increase in trade union supporters in the ranks.

- The destruction of socialism in the Soviet Union and other countries of the world socialist system was a heavy blow to the international working class movement. From the effects of the shock, he still could not fully recovered. Meanwhile, as a result of long-term influence of the Social-Democratic ideology in the union environment, particularly in Europe, due to the negative impact of Euro-communism and the weakening of the vanguard role of the working class (and therefore the communist parties) millions of workers began to leave the trade unions, who are mired in reformism, bureaucracy, corruption, collusion with the oligarchs and the governments.

The workers leave the trade unions "social partnership": they are not interested to be members of trade unions, which are subject to the policies of the capitalists, and acting on their orders.

The recent history of the world trade union movement in the conditions of growing crisis of capitalist society is more clearly revealed the struggle bourgeois and proletarian trends in the trade unions. In a historic moment of its greatest rise caused by the victory of the Soviet people over European fascism, the largest trade union organizations of almost all countries of the world October 3, 1945 in Paris, was established by the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU). In its charter says: an organization fighting for the abolition of exploitation of man by man. This tendency of the class, the proletariat on the road leading out of organized struggle for freedom, democracy and socialism, was and remains the proletarian trend in the world labor movement.

Compromising and reactionary trend in the global trade union movement is carried out, to put it in a Leninist, clerks of the bourgeoisie in the labor movement - the leadership of the International Confederation of Trade Unions - ITUC actually transferred from 1949 at the side of imperialism in its offensive against the forces of the proletariat.

In this regard, particularly relevant, and especially practical is an appeal to the workers of the WFTU and workers: fighting for their immediate goals, fight for the strategic goal of the class - for the abolition of exploitation!

Based on the dynamics of recent years clearly indicated a stable trend towards strengthening the role of the class oriented internationalist unions, strengthening the status of the World Federation of Trade Unions, there is every reason to believe that the widely celebrated 70th anniversary of WFTU in Sao Paulo Forum, dedicated to this date, will serve to the development of international labor and trade union movement. One can only wish our comrades in the struggle, who arrived at a Labour Forum in Brazil, success!
